Warp VR 2022 year in review

Geert Jan Kraan
Marketing Lead

2022 has been our most successful year ever. We're excited to share a recap of our top moments and celebrate our progress on our journey to revolutionize the way companies upskill their employees.

We’ve witnessed significant growth in the demand for VR training and its impact on corporate learning programs, with over a 100% growth in training attempts and many of our customers reporting improved learner outcomes and a positive business case.

As our revenue grew by triple digits, we hired new team members to support our growth and welcomed companies like ASML, EDF, EMA, NHL Stenden and Raiffeisen to our platform. We also invested a lot in our ecosystem and international growth by adding new partners like CreatorUp, Groundflr and RIOTT Digital.

Platform & services

In 2022, we improved our platform with many exciting new features, including:

  • a new video editor with easier trimming directly in Warp Studio
  • voice recognition in VR
  • easy access to training scenarios for shared VR headsets
  • highest possible quality playback on smartphones and tablets
  • support for new VR headsets like the Pico Neo 3 Pro, Pico 4 Enterprise, and Meta Quest Pro
  • web player (currently in beta, rollout early 2023)

To support customers in developing engaging story-based immersive scenarios, we also introduced new services and an extensive help center. And are currently working on a series of free worksheets to use in internal ideation workshops.

Pricing

We updated our pricing based on customer feedback into a more simple and fair model, where you only pay for what you need based on the number of published scenarios and workspaces. All plans now also include unlimited trainees and views.

Customers & awards

We were humbled to receive industry recognition from institutions like Training Industry which added us to their Top Training Companies overview in the category Experiential Learning Technologies. Together with customers like Erste Bank and NS (Dutch Railways), we were also nominated for a series of awards, including Learning Technologies Awards, Global EdTech Startups Awards, Reimagine Education Awards, The Learning Awards, and the NS Innovation Award.

More customer love came in the form of G2 reviews with a 4.9 out of 5 rating on average. As one of the reviewers shared, "I never taught that building amazing scenarios for VR as a novice would be so easy and captivating.” We couldn’t agree more! 😃

Events & webinars

This year we frequently attended and sponsored industry events, including Laval Virtual, Performance Journey, IMTS, Unleash World, Onboard Amsterdam, ATD European Summit and Immersive Tech Week (together with Pico and VR Expert). We also introduced a series of webinars about topics like gamification, our partner program, safety & soft skill training, storytelling and classroom training.

Social media & website

We grew our LinkedIn followers to more than 1000 and introduced a brand new website. Here you can learn more about how Erste Bank prepares employees for tricky situations, Brunei Shell Petroleum cuts training costs, and NS (Dutch Railways) realizes huge cost savings each year.

And on our blog, we talked about the best VR headsets and cameras to use, why story tension, action intelligence and completion rates are important, and what the role of VR training is in the new L&D tech stack.
